- ➤ New Year Hikes will kick off America 250 celebrations at Caprock Canyons and Palo Duro Canyon State Parks on Jan. 1. Palo Duro offers a 1.5-mile guided hike at 7 a.m. and Caprock Canyons features a volunteer-led tour at 9:30 a.m. (Day passes are available online). NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Longtime Amarillo dentist Dr. David Woodburn, who led free dental care programs through Texas Mission of Mercy events, was named an Amarillo Globe-News Headliner today. - ➤ Nominate a Texas science teacher for the 2026 Ernest and Sarah Butler Awards for Excellence in Science Teaching before Jan. 4; winners will receive up to $20,000 + resource grants for their schools. NewsTalk 940 AM

- ➤ TxDOT upgraded the intersection at South Loop 335 and Tascosa Road to be fully lit for safer travel + drainage improvements along FM 1061 are set to be completed by spring. NewsChannel 10
- ➤ Center City allocated $20,000 from its Facade Grant and $50,000 from TIRZ to support the planned Texas Panhandle First Responders Memorial. The memorial, to be built at 11th & Polk near the historic Mary E. Bivins Library, will honor law enforcement, firefighters & EMS personnel. NewsChannel 10
